Register Now for Cane Cares’ 4th Annual Golf Tournament on Sept. 20th!

The 4th Annual Cane Cares Golf Tournament will be held at Steele Canyon Golf Club on Friday, September 20th from 10 am to 3 pm. Join us for a day of celebration and raising money for a great cause: helping to prevent homelessness in San Diego.

Last year, we raised over $15,000 to prevent homelessness in San Diego, and were even featured in the San Diego Union-Tribune. This year alone, we’ve helped fund shelter for 26 people. With you’re help, we’re hoping to raise even more money this year, the first $10,000 of which will go to Sister League of San Diego!

Pitch In During Cane Cares’ Community Food Drive!

Join Cane Cares in fighting hunger in San Diego with our Community Food Drive! Help us gather canned and non-perishable groceries to benefit the less fortunate in our community. All items collected will go to our partner, People Assisting The Homeless (PATH).

 

  • When: Drop off May 1–9 during business hours
  • Where: 7817 Ivanhoe Ave #101, La Jolla, CA 92037
  • Or if you’re in the 92109, 92117 or 92103 areas and aren’t able to come by, you can also call and we’ll pick your items up for you!
PATH told us more about their specific needs: “We are always in need of shelf stable items for all of our programs from outreach to interim shelter to permanent supportive housing. We need cereal, high protein granola bars, cup of noodle soups, canned fruit, applesauce and canned soups with chicken and meat.”

Register Now for Cane Cares’ 3rd Annual Golf Tournament!

Cane Cares is excited to announce our 3rd Annual Golf Tournament! This event will be held on September 22, 2023 at Steele Canyon Golf Course. Click the graphic (or the link below) to register!

All proceeds from the tournament will benefit Cane Cares’ efforts to fight homelessness in our community.

In 2021, we were able to raise over $17,000 at the event, which helped provide housing to a father and his two-year-old daughter from Guatemala who came to the US seeking asylum. Last year, we raised thousands more, and this year we are hoping to raise even more money to go towards something truly special.

Last year, we held our our 1st Annual Cane Cares Golf Tournament and were able to raise over $17,000 at the event. With the money raised, we were able to approve a grant that will help to provide housing to a father and his two-year-old daughter from Guatemala who came to the US seeking asylum. Fleeing poverty, extortion from a local cartel, and an ineffective government, together father and daughter traversed 3,000 miles, often by foot, to come to our country.  After crossing, the single dad was placed in numerous detention centers including 8 months in a Nevada prison solely because he was seeking asylum.  During that time, his daughter suffered growth and speech delays. Somehow they endured and were reunited when she was 19 months.  Now they are working hard, assimilating, and enjoying life in sunny San Diego.

Thank you to all of the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers for supporting Cane Cares First Annual Golf Tournament! We are so grateful for the support and thrilled to have raised over $17,000. Because of each and everyone of you, we are able to make a huge impact on preventing homelessness in San Diego. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
